Engaging Father Christmas

FaithWords (October 30, 2008)

by

Robin Jones Gunn

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Robin grew up in Orange County, California and has lived in all kinds of interesting places, including Reno and Hawai’i.

She and her husband currently live near Portland, Oregon and have been married for 30 years. They spent their first 22 years of marriage working together in youth ministry, and enjoying life with their son and daughter who are now both grown.

As a frequent speaker at local and international events, one of Robin’s favorite topics is how God is the Relentless Lover and we are His first love. She delights in telling stories of how God uses fiction to change lives.

Robin is the recipient of the Christy Award, the Mt. Hermon Pacesetter Award, the Sherwood E. Wirt Award and is a Gold Medallion Finalist. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Media Associates International and the Board of Directors for Jerry Jenkins’ Christian Writers’ Guild.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Miranda Carson can't wait to return to England for Christmas and to be with her boyfriend, Ian. She has spent a lifetime yearning for a place to call home, and she's sure Carlton Heath will be it, especially when a hinted-at engagement ring slips into the conversation.

But Miranda's high hopes for a jolly Christmas with the small circle of people she has come to love are toppled when Ian's father is hospitalized and the matriarch of the Whitcombe family withholds her blessing from Miranda. Questions run rampant in Miranda's mind about whether she really belongs in this cheery corner of the world. Then, when her true identity threatens all her relationships in unanticipated ways, Miranda is certain all is lost.

And yet...maybe Father Christmas has special gifts in store for her after all.

If you would like to read the first chapter of Engaging Father Christmas, go HERE

If you haven't read anything by Robin Jones Gunn, you're missing out! My favorites are her Sisterchicks books! Robin takes you to places we'd all love to visit and gives you a taste of what it's like to be there. Engaging Father Christmas is the continuing story of Finding Father Christmas which came out last year, so I'd recommend you read that one first. You won't be disappointed!

I'm giving away one copy of Engaging Father Christmas! Leave a comment by December 19th telling when you open your Christmas presents. We open presents from my parents on Christmas Eve and all the rest on Christmas morning! Check back on the 20th and see who won!!

Congrats to Gayla who won!!!

This book looks like such a good read so would love to get added in the drawing.

It depends on when we open up our presents. If we are in FL and visiting family, we open our gifts on Christmas Eve. Otherwise, we usually wait until Christmas Day.

Blessings,
Jo

You don't have to enter me, though my family saves most all presents for Christmas morning! I just wanted to let you all know that Robin Jones Gunn is doing a live, online chat at Abunga.com on Dec. 17 from 2-3 p.m. EST to take questions and talk about these books and her other titles. I work with Abunga.com, and we would love if you could join in the chat at www.Abunga.com/AuthorsAtAbunga.

First, may I say what an attractive author Robin Gunn is. Her picture is striking.

Secon; I love holiday stories and read only that fare from Thanksgiving till Jan. 1. I would be so honored to win.

Third; how can I win the darling little dumpling that is eating the apple in the pic? Soooo cute.

When our boys were home we used to open gifts with my husband's side of the family on Christmas Eve and then save ours to each other for Christmas morning. But since they are no longer here we don't usually open gifts until Christmas day since we no longer exchange gifts with his side of the family or mine.
I've not read anything by Robin yet and would love to win this!! I sure don't want to MISS OUT!!

It is different every year for us. Our immediate family usually opens on Christmas morning, but with extended family it will vary depending on everyone's availability :-)

Oops I meant to say we open Christmas gifts on Christmas Day after Santa has come. I have kids who distract me all the time. Sorry about that. Thanks for the contest!

We wing it every year. We open in our house either Christmas Eve or Christmas day, depending on when we get to be with family. My husband's family is Christmas Eve this year, so we'll do Christmas day with our kids, and then my family a couple days later.
